Overview In this role, you manage profitability, growth, and retention for a Commercial Accounts book, combining underwriting expertise with sales to serve mid-size businesses. You will partner with agents and brokers, assess complex risk, and negotiate to protect profitability while expanding our market presence. The position blends technical underwriting with cross-functional collaboration to drive region-wide sales plans and account performance. Responsibilities- Manage profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business
- Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability
- Cultivate relationships with internal partners to create sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities
- Maintain external relationships with agents and brokers through regular meetings to market Travelers products
- Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills
- Develop and execute agency sales plans and partner on regional sales plans with leadership
- May assist in training and mentoring less experienced Account Executives
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent
- Six to eight years of underwriting experience in commercial lines
- Deep knowledge of commercial lines products, regulatory environment, and local market
- Strong critical thinking to identify and address underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills with agents and brokers
- CPCU designation
- Four years of underwriting, claim, operations, risk assessment, actuarial, sales, product, or finance experience (must have)
