Export Compliance Leader Legal

Overview

In this role, you will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive export and compliance program across BETA. You will oversee EAR/ITAR, security, and US Government contract compliance, reporting to the Chief Legal Officer. You'll design training and digital controls, monitor evolving regulations, and partner with cross-functional teams to scale compliance as we advance electric aviation. The role combines regulatory rigor with practical process improvements to safeguard growth.

Responsibilities
  • Advance and manage the enterprise compliance program on a day-to-day basis
  • Prepare quarterly updates and present recommendations to leadership to address weaknesses
  • Project-manage enterprise compliance obligations across the business
  • Establish and maintain compliance policies and procedures
  • Develop and deliver trainings on regulatory requirements and processes
  • Provide guidance to employees and modify operations policies as needed
  • Investigate escapes, perform analyses, and recommend corrective actions
  • Coordinate with stakeholders inside and outside Legal and Compliance
  • Maintain meticulous records to support compliance requirements
  • Support export compliance activities including reviewing license applications
Key requirements
  • Experience in aerospace compliance
  • Working knowledge of US export regulations
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Exceptional organization and project management abilities
  • Strong IT aptitude including Microsoft tools and US Government portals/databases
  • Proven problem-solving and option-assessment capabilities
  • Ability to prioritize strategic projects and drive timely improvements
  • US Government contract experience
