Overview As Associate General Counsel, you provide strategic legal counsel on real estate and corporate contracts, supporting internal clients across transactions and development. You will work within the legal team to deliver practical guidance for leases, development agreements, and related agreements, helping the company navigate complex commercial matters. This role blends transactional prowess with cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced, team-driven environment. You will shape outcomes on major real estate initiatives and partnerships, contributing to GGP's mission to create vibrant retail destinations.

Responsibilities- Negotiate, draft, and review real estate documents (leases, development leases, subleases, amendments, termination agreements, construction exhibits) to secure favorable terms and clarity.
- Prepare and evaluate ancillary real estate agreements (letters of intent, licenses, easements, term commencement agreements, declarations, CCS, liens, agreements related to title and covenants).
- Analyze legal and contractual matters affecting shopping center tenants' use and operation.
- Ensure agreements comply with corporate approvals and governance.
- Review existing leases, department store agreements, and REAs to advise on development and redevelopment impact.
- Advise internal stakeholders on legal implications of transactions and initiatives.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with tenants, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
- Support various duties under supervision with independent judgment within guidelines.
Key requirements- J.D. from a leading law school
- Current license to practice law in any U.S. state or jurisdiction
- Minimum 5 years of relevant legal experience in corporate, contracts, or litigation at a major law firm (preferred)
