Claims Consultant - Advertising / Personal Injury

Overview

In this role you will lead strategic management and resolution of highly complex claims involving personal and advertising injury exposures. You will coordinate claim resolution activities, work with customers, insureds and attorneys, and influence outcomes through data-driven analysis and cross-functional collaboration. The position sits within a claims team that strives for quality service and regulatory compliance, with a focus on cost-effective settlements and timely disbursements. Responsibilities
  • Manage highly complex investigations of claims, including coverage, liability, and damages
  • Decide settlement versus litigation strategy and implement resolution plans
  • Control loss costs and claim expenses, and post reserves timely
  • Coordinate discovery and litigation strategy with staff counsel or panel attorneys
  • Negotiate complex settlements and authorize payments within authority
  • Coordinate subrogation/recovery efforts with the recovery unit
  • Provide guidance to less experienced staff and other areas
  • Prepare reports on claims activities for management and clients
  • Maintain knowledge of state/territory regulations and industry trends
  • Input data accurately reflecting claim circumstances and outcomes
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Typically eight years of claims experience
  • Advanced claims resolution expertise and insurance knowledge
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and related software
  • Professional designation preferred
  • Ability to work with attorneys, agents, doctors and insureds
