Overview As a Civil/Structural Estimator in STV's Project Controls group in NYC, you will develop detailed estimates for concrete and structural steel components on a high-visibility infrastructure project. You will work closely with engineers, designers, and construction managers to build cost models, assess constructability, and identify cost drivers. Your analyses will inform value engineering, change pricing, and risk management, helping optimize schedules and budgets. Responsibilities- Prepare detailed cost estimates for concrete and structural steel systems across project phases
- Perform quantitative take-offs from drawings, specs, and BIM models
- Analyze labor, material, equipment, and installation costs for heavy civil and structural work
- Develop cost models and pricing strategies for complex building and infrastructure elements
- Evaluate structural systems and interpret design docs to identify scope gaps and risks
- Provide input into value engineering and alternative design solutions
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, contractors, and construction managers to validate assumptions
- Assist in cost strategy discussions with Port Authority and project leadership
- Track cost performance and assist in forecasting as design progresses
- Maintain estimating databases, benchmarks, and historical data
Key requirements- 7-12+ years of estimating experience focused on civil and structural scopes
- Demonstrated expertise in concrete and structural steel estimating for large-scale projects
- Strong experience with quantity take-offs and cost analysis from construction documents
- In-depth knowledge of construction means, methods, materials, and cost drivers
