Industrial Project Architect (Southeast)

Overview

In this role you will lead the planning, design, documentation, and construction administration of diverse industrial facilities, from data centers to water treatment and manufacturing plants. You'll guide multi-disciplinary teams, partner with project managers, and drive design excellence with a focus on resilience and sustainability. You will influence projects across markets while collaborating within HDR's employee-owned culture. This is an opportunity to shape the built environment at scale and deliver meaningful impact.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design concepts, code applications, design management, digital workflows for industrial facilities
  • Lead owner/client and internal meetings and coordinate code reviews with authorities having jurisdiction
  • Direct project teams to deliver construction documents and milestone deliverables
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary work through all project phases and produce construction-grade documents
  • Perform QA/QC and cross-discipline reviews; write and edit architectural specifications
  • Coordinate addenda, RFIs, CPRs, and change orders; incorporate changes into documents
  • Provide construction observation and contract administration as needed
  • Conduct on-site work sessions with Client Representatives and other disciplines
  • Perform additional duties as needed
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial architecture (data centers, water facilities, etc.)
  • Registered Architect
  • Proficient in Autodesk Revit and related tools
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project Schedule)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience preparing and layout of architectural contract documents and specifications
  • Strong codes knowledge and planning skills
  • Active participation in HDR's employee-owned culture
