Responsibilities- Partner with stakeholders to embed catastrophe analytics in underwriting and reinsurance decisions across business units.
- Monitor CAT portfolio using models and accumulation analytics; explain changes and suggest actions to improve risk management.
- Deliver high-quality insights and reports to internal and external audiences, and streamline property data reporting for faster insight and self-service.
- Oversee pre- and post-event monitoring and reporting, coordinating with CUO, CRO, actuarial, claims, reinsurance, and others.
- Support optimal underwriting strategies within a risk/reward framework with CUO and CRO teams.
- Evaluate new business opportunities including CAT exposures to understand accumulation impact and de-risking options.
- Manage CAT referral processes across business areas and drive process improvements as models and systems evolve.
- Maintain and enhance analytical reinsurance framework using diverse data sources to evaluate solutions and tradeoffs.
- Manage and train staff on CAT modeling tools (including AIR models) and relevant databases and analytics tools.
- Support reinsurance operations in monitoring and reporting across property placements and collaborate with vendors and brokers to improve capabilities.
Key requirements- 10-15 years of CAT management and modeling experience with track record of improving CAT reporting, underwriting analytics, and reinsurance decisions.
- Experience partnering with colleagues across functions, managing competing priorities and deadlines.
- Strong ability to build and manage internal/external stakeholder relationships with mutual respect and challenge.
- Solid technical knowledge of catastrophe models; AIR preferred, with ability to lead platform transitions.
- Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate a team as both manager and individual contributor.
