Overview As K&I Counsel for Finance & Capital Markets, you drive practice innovation and knowledge architecture, guiding the adoption of new legal technologies. You lead training, shape AI and tooling strategy, and ensure compliant, efficient knowledge systems. You collaborate with practice leadership and clients to translate tech into value. You monitor market developments and influence the firm's approach to delivering legal services. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on deployment and governance of tooling and processes.

Responsibilities- Evaluate, pilot, procure, and deploy modern legal tech solutions for Finance & Capital Markets; shape the practice's innovation strategy
- Design and supervise the practice group's intelligence and knowledge management systems with Research & Intelligence
- Lead trainings on new tools and AI solutions; create client alerts and best-practice know-how processes
- Identify, evaluate, pilot, procure, and build practice solutions (AI, document automation, client apps) and advise on tool contexts and client messaging
- Develop and maintain guidelines and taxonomies for document management, classification, storage, and retrieval
- Advise clients and team members on our suite of solutions and keep collateral up to date
- Test, evaluate, and champion AI tools; oversee pilots and deployment decisions
- Serve as primary advisor on client restrictions and data considerations related to AI and technology use
- Track developments in legal AI and share insights with leadership and Knowledge & Innovation community
- Create, maintain, and promote standard forms, precedents, checklists, and data systems in partnership with Research & Intelligence
- Establish matter profiling processes and ensure accurate matter descriptions and categorizations
- Review precedent information; recommend template changes and refined due diligence focus
- Participate in Knowledge & Innovation meetings and coordinate with other departments to improve processes
- Coordinate with Business Development and other groups to satisfy departmental needs, including trainings
Key requirements- D.-qualified and at least five years of finance or capital markets legal experience
- Experience in legal technology evaluation, AI tool deployment, knowledge management, or process innovation preferred
- Extensive knowledge of finance or capital markets practices, products, and documents (financing, securities, derivatives)
- Ability to advise on client restrictions, data considerations, and AI/tech use policies
- Experience developing policies or training materials for document/records management or information governance preferred
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills
- Strong legal research and drafting skills; familiarity with AI-powered legal tools
- Strong leadership, project management, and attention to detail; able to meet tight deadlines
- Well-developed interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels of the Firm
- Proficiency in document management search functionality and systems
- Ability to design and deliver substantive trainings on new legal tech and AI solutions
