Overview

As an Innovation Attorney in Latham's Technology & Information Services team, you connect lawyers, clients, and tech to ensure our systems meet practice needs. You help shape technical strategies, integrate tools into workflows, and drive efficiency across practice groups. You will evaluate emerging legal tech, lead pilots, and advise leadership on deployment of technology-enabled processes. This role offers hybrid work in LA, Chicago, or NY and a chance to influence how technology supports high-caliber legal services. You will join a values-driven firm focused on respect, innovation, and collaboration, with meaningful impact on client outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies and industry trends to maintain a state-of-the-art platform for lawyers
  • Provide updates and analyses of new tech to firm management and practice leaders
  • Identify opportunities to apply tech in practice areas, coordinate pilot/proof-of-concept programs, and test products
  • Advise on strategic deployment of efficient processes, tools, and policies for attorneys and clients
  • Cultivate relationships with third-party vendors and industry thought leaders to exchange information and foster collaboration
  • Protect sensitive and proprietary information maintained by the firm
Key requirements
  • JD or equivalent and admission to the relevant state bar
  • Completion of an intensive software development/coding bootcamp (preferred)
  • Minimum of four (4) years as a practicing lawyer in a law firm or legal operations
  • Experience in a technology role (preferred)
