Research Scientist I - Neurobiology

In this role you conduct advanced biomedical research to advance health care, developing methods and analyzing data to generate new knowledge. You will guide experiments, interpret results, and communicate findings to the principal investigator. You may supervise research staff and contribute to training grants and publications. You design and maintain research equipment and review literature to inform project direction, aligning with UTMB's mission to expand effective health services.

• Establish research objectives and methodologies with high technical rigor
• Conduct research projects and analyze data to interpret results
• Define problems and propose solutions aligned with project goals
• Communicate results effectively to the PI and team
• Supervise and provide technical direction to research staff
• Potentially submit training grants as PI with faculty mentor
• Publish and present research as author or co-author
• Lead or train Classified Research Staff and Post Doctoral Fellows
• Design, develop, and maintain equipment for experiments
• Review scientific literature and identify internal controls
• Explore equipment or facility/core enhancement grant opportunities as PI
• Oversee execution of assigned tasks and ensure quality outcomes

• PhD, MD, DO, or DVM in related field
