  • Reinforce a disciplined culture of safety and accuracy that reflects real machine-shop expectations

  • Evaluate student progress through direct observation, practical exercises, skill demonstrations, and performance reviews

  • Maintain accurate attendance, progress, and completion records, and reinforce the program's 90% attendance requirement

  • Maintain an orderly, inclusive, and safety-focused lab environment and promptly report equipment or safety concerns

  • Help learners develop professionalism, teamwork, communication, tool care, and workplace readiness skills

  • Prepare learners for continued training or entry-level manufacturing work

  • Collaborate with Tri-Rivers staff and program leadership to keep training aligned with employer expectations and current manufacturing practices

The position also includes participation in applicable staff training, program recruitment and retention efforts, advisory committee meetings, and collaboration with program and administrative staff.

Job Requirements:

  • Five or more years of experience in machining, tool and die, manufacturing, industrial maintenance, or a closely related field

  • Demonstrated proficiency with manual lathes and manual milling machines

  • Working knowledge of precision measurement, blueprint reading, machine setup, tooling, speeds and feeds, and shop safety

  • Journeyperson credentials, industry certifications, an associate degree, or formal training in machining or manufacturing technology preferred

  • Experience with CNC machining, CAD/CAM, GD&T, quality systems, or production troubleshooting is a plus

  • Experience training apprentices, onboarding employees, or mentoring entry-level machinists preferred

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift materials, tooling, or equipment up to 50 pounds, with assistance when needed

  • Ability to work safely around operating machinery, metal chips, coolants, and noise while using required PPE

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to learners with varying levels of experience

  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills

  • Commitment to safety, professionalism, and student success
