Overview In this role you oversee the laboratory section, aligning staffing, equipment, and workflow to maximize efficiency within budget and quality standards. You will ensure accurate specimen handling and test results while supporting a culture focused on safety, compliance, and continuous improvement. You'll supervise and develop staff, perform advanced testing when needed, and uphold CLIA, HIPAA, and OSHA requirements. This position offers a pathway to impact patient care through rigorous laboratory leadership.

Responsibilities- Plan, organize, schedule and direct section work to optimize resources within budget and quality standards
- Oversee specimen handling quality and test result accuracy; manage non-routine procedures and methodology evaluation
- Supervise staff: interviewing, hiring, training and performance development
- Perform advanced/specialized tests and verify test results; duplicate work to confirm findings
- Initiate and monitor quality-control measures; ensure adherence to laboratory standards
- Maintain safe, sanitary lab areas and equipment; ensure training and competency checks
- Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA and safety requirements; use PPE and controls as directed
- Engage in additional duties such as inspections, surveys, and special projects as requested
Key requirements- Minimum five (5) years full-time supervisory experience
- New York State Inspection Lab Requirements
- Six years clinical experience
- ASCP Certification (Preferred)
- Bachelor's Degree Medical Technology or related field (Required)
