Strategic Sourcing Specialist

Overview

In this role you will support AEC commodity sourcing and supplier analysis, driving global direct-material sourcing, negotiations, and cost savings to enable successful project execution. You will work with cross-functional teams to optimize supply reliability and align supplier performance with company objectives. The position emphasizes strategic sourcing, risk management, and continuous improvement to sustain competitive procurement. This is a chance to shape sourcing strategies and relationships at scale, contributing to Albany's mission and values.

Responsibilities
  • Develop strategic sourcing strategies for specific supplier commodities
  • Manage sourcing activities from RFQ through project execution
  • Lead complex negotiations for supply agreements and contracts
  • Create and implement advanced sourcing initiatives for cost efficiency and reliability
  • Oversee price and cost analysis for commercial and government contracts
  • Negotiate long-term contract pricing and terms
  • Identify new sources of supply meeting performance and delivery standards
  • Address complex challenges to obtain favorable prices and terms
  • Develop, manage, and audit supplier performance measures
  • Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews with strategic suppliers and participate in quality audits
  • Manage supplier relationships with emphasis on performance alignment
  • Monitor technological advancements relevant to procurement
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Champion continuous improvement to reduce costs and improve supply chain efficiency
  • Report savings achievements via monthly statistics and quarterly summaries
  • Bridge R+T with the PDC for supply chain activities to ensure smooth transitions
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Science or Arts
  • 5-8 years in purchasing and strategic sourcing
  • International experience with suppliers in Americas and Europe preferred
  • Experience driving improvements in supply chain performance
  • SAP knowledge is a significant advantage
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven track record in operational improvements to support business strategy
  • Ability to manage centralized sourcing with multiple locations
  • Experience with government contracting purchasing (5-8 years) and complex proposal development
  • Strategic relationship management and cross-functional collaboration
  • Understanding of U.S. government acquisition laws and regulations (FAR, DFAR, ITAR, EAR)
  • ERP/SAP expertise and familiarity with MRP and material forecasting
  • Ethical leadership and effective stakeholder communication
  • Ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment
