Overview As General Counsel, you will be the principal legal advisor to executive leadership, guiding legal strategy across commercial, regulatory, governance, labor, and risk domains. You will partner with finance and operations to align legal risk with business objectives in a highly regulated environment. You'll lead negotiations and drafting of major contracts, advise on compliance and governance, and manage outside counsel to optimize legal spend. This role offers broad exposure to a critical transportation asset and direct impact on strategy and enterprise risk management. You will operate with pragmatic, business-focused judgment within a collaborative leadership team.

Responsibilities- Serve as primary legal advisor to executive leadership and stakeholders
- Lead negotiation, drafting, and management of major commercial agreements (financing, operations, vendor contracts)
- Advise on regulatory and compliance matters in a regulated operating environment
- Support governance initiatives and strengthen enterprise risk management frameworks
- Provide guidance on labor and employment issues, including unionized workforces
- Partner with finance and operations on insurance, risk allocation, and business strategy
- Manage outside counsel relationships and legal spend
- Participate in strategic business discussions and deliver practical, solutions-oriented legal guidance
Key requirements- Meaningful experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements
