Overview In this role you will manage the pre-award financial aspects of pediatric research grants to enable timely funding and award setup. You will work closely with the Center for Research Advancement and Division leadership to guide proposals, budgets, and reporting while ensuring compliance across multiple sponsors. You will drive process improvements in grants management and support cross-institution collaborations, including industry contracts and sub-awards. Responsibilities- Manage pre-award financial activities across the grant life cycle from application to closeout
- Prepare budgets, justifications, and budget forms for submission and reporting
- Provide budget guidance to principal investigators and assist in proposal development
- Negotiate industry contracts including clinical trial agreements and sponsored research agreements
- Lead with BCM Grants and Contracts and Sponsored Programs Office on pre-award processes
- Coordinate with BCM Accounting, Sponsored Programs, and IRB to establish and execute awards and independent agreements
- Maintain data on active, pending, and closed grants and related reporting metrics
- Assist with cost/effort allocations and payroll cost transfers in relevant systems
- Support development and continuous improvement of grants management processes in Infectious Diseases
- Prepare financial reporting and provide feedback to leadership and Investigators
- Ensure compliance with federal, sponsor, and institutional policies and act as liaison among stakeholders
- Assist in BCM annual division budget entries related to personnel, PEPT, F&A, IDC, and related calculations
- Support other Pediatrics divisions as assigned
- Manage complex awards and sub-awards from multiple sponsors and institutions, including multi-site and international collaborations
- Coordinate with BCM compliance systems (BRAIN, IRB, RCOI, PEPT) and other research administration tools
- Perform other duties as assigned
Key requirements- Bachelor's degree, or Certified Research Administrator certification in lieu of degree
- Four years of relevant experience
- Experience with grant applications, budgeting, and financial management in healthcare or academic research is preferred
