Job description

Overview

In this role you lead Northwest Bancshares' Retirement Plan business and drive growth in sales, AUA, and department expansion. You will partner with Trust and Financial Advisor teams to promote participation and cross-referrals. You supervise Retirement Plan Consultants and serve as a knowledgeable resource on retirement plan administration, compliance, and client service. You'll shape policy, process improvements, and educate plan participants, contributing to strategic retirement initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee vendor/administrator performance and service levels
  • Direct and mentor staff and plan sponsors
  • Oversee budgets, forecasts, and long-term retirement plan strategies
  • Resolve technical issues and communicate with customers
  • Draft and monitor compliance with policies/procedures with Compliance Specialist
  • Maintain knowledge of 401(k), 403(b), 457, and defined benefit plans and ERISA issues
  • Develop and monitor compliance activities and work with department heads to implement strategies
  • Lead staff meetings and participate on Trust Administrative Committee
  • Cultivate referrals and assist in product development
  • Coordinate with Examiners, Auditors, TPAs, and record-keepers
  • Manage administrative workflow and invoice projects
  • Ensure Internal Revenue Code compliance and external regulatory alignment
  • Identify and resolve plan-related problems and conduct analyses
  • Maintain data integrity and implement procedural improvements
  • Monitor invoiced fees and loan defaults for compliance
  • Support safety, health, and incident reporting in the team
  • Complete special projects as assigned by Senior Trust Officer
  • Develop improvements to procedures and customer service levels
Key requirements
  • Bachelor in Business
  • 8-12 years in employee benefit and pension plan administration
  • Plan document and legislative experience
  • Financial compliance experience
  • Supervisory/managerial capabilities
  • Ability to analyze financial data
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
