Overview In this role, you will lead Arch's Surety Underwriting Group, shaping underwriting strategy and driving profitable growth. You'll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen market position and ensure disciplined, compliant product execution. The position supports strategic direction across North America with a focus on high-impact underwriting decisions and talent development. This is a leadership role with travel to client sites and Arch offices, enabling broad influence and market presence.

Responsibilities- Set strategic direction to optimize underwriting results and competitive positioning
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business goals and growth
- Lead ongoing management of the group to hit underwriting and line-of-business targets
- Evaluate performance, renewals, opportunities, actuaries, ceded reinsurance, market signals, and product applications
- Represent the organization in the marketplace with customers, agents, and brokers
- Ensure products, practices, guidelines, and authority limits comply with regulatory requirements
- Promote underwriting discipline, product application, and marketing execution to sustain growth
Key requirements- 15-20+ years of insurance underwriting experience across home office and field environments with strong know-how of surety products
- Proven track record leading high-performing, cross-functional teams
- Strong talent development capabilities including mentoring, coaching, and performance management
- Ability to align strategy with day-to-day operations to achieve business objectives
- Willingness and ability to travel across North America for account and marketing visits (up to 35%)
