Overview As Pursuits Manager, you lead HDR's Education, Science, and Sports pursuit efforts, guiding a team of specialists from positioning to post-submission follow-up. You align sector leaders, design professionals, researchers, and marketers to win client-focused proposals. You oversee lifecycle processes, ensure high-quality materials, and balance resources across a growing national pipeline. You will connect cross-functional teams to translate client needs into compelling win strategies. This role offers the chance to shape HDR's pursuit culture and contribute to impactful, community-focused projects.
Responsibilities- Lead priority pursuits for Education, Science, and Sports sectors, primarily in the US
- Mentor and develop a high-performing pursuit team
- Oversee complete pursuit lifecycle: planning, strategy, messaging, work planning, proposals, and interviews
- Facilitate pursuit strategy and kickoff meetings
- Oversee development of persuasive proposals, presentations, and interview materials
- Manage pursuit workflows, schedules, budgets, and quality controls
- Allocate resources across the national pipeline and coordinate with other teams
- Collaborate with Architecture Marketing Studio members and pursue leaders to share knowledge
- Translate capture planning and competitive insights into actionable pursuit strategies
- Advance consistent practices, resource coordination, quality, and continuous improvement
- Establish and manage pursuit budgets and costs
- Maintain awareness of EdSciSport priorities and HDR capabilities
- Apply HDR marketing policies, brand requirements, and risk-management practices
- Support a collaborative, inclusive, and sustainable team culture
Key requirements- A minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience
- Self-starter with ability to work with limited oversight
- Deep knowledge of A/E/C procurement of professional services
- Proven ability to motivate and inspire others
- Professional registration or related technical experience
- Experience in sales and developing win strategies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Willingness to travel and engage in person
- Experience in writing compelling content from technical staff
