Employee Relations Partner

Overview

In this role you will serve as a subject matter expert on employee relations, delivering enterprise-wide ER solutions by partnering with leaders, managers, and employees. You will resolve complex issues, guide investigations, and ensure fair policy application while managing risk. You will influence senior stakeholders, mentor teammates, and support training and interventions that enhance performance and workplace culture. This position offers a chance to shape ER practices within a financial institution and contribute to a compliant, engaged organization.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as ER subject matter expert with high impact
  • Adjudicate complex ER issues with senior management
  • Deliver quality counsel to managers and employees
  • Identify and analyze ER matters and recommend appropriate action
  • Administer Performance Expectations and Corrective Action Policy; escalate termination when appropriate
  • Counsel on legal requirements and participate in regulatory complaints and hearings
  • Understand and interpret employee handbook; advise accordingly
  • Receive, investigate, and resolve complaints; support Investigations Team
  • Counsel employees on conduct, disputes, and performance; facilitate resolutions
  • Conduct, present, and train on ER topics; develop or oversee training programs
  • Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence for interdisciplinary ER issues
  • Produce reporting on ER topics and interventions
  • Mentor ER Specialists and Partners; serve as ER expert for line of business
  • Support exit interview analysis and follow-up
  • Interpret policy inquiries and report issues to corporate ER
  • Stay informed on ER developments and wage/benefit/equal opportunity topics
  • Maintain risk and regulatory controls and escalate risks
  • Promote engagement and M&T values in the workplace
  • Maintain internal controls and respond to audit findings
  • Perform related duties as assigned
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years related experience OR 9+ years combined education and experience
  • Experience consulting on ER issues and leading investigations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel (overnight as needed)
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, influencing, writing, and mediation skills
  • Ability to think critically and adapt in dynamic environments
