Overview In this role, you will advance MS translational research by integrating clinical data with multi-omics to uncover biomarkers and disease biology insights that inform trial design and molecule progression. You will work at the intersection of clinical development and translational science, analyzing human biospecimens and high-dimensional datasets to generate actionable translational insights. Your work supports biomarker strategies and cross-functional storytelling that ties molecular findings to patient outcomes. This position offers a platform to shape MS translational science within Genentech's OMNI group.
Responsibilities- Discover and validate MS biomarkers and targets by merging clinical data with molecular phenotyping and multi-omics
- Design and perform translational experiments using clinical biospecimens (CSF, PBMCs, whole blood, serum) to study heterogeneity, target engagement, and disease progression
- Analyze high-dimensional datasets (scRNA-seq, CITE-seq, bulk RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, proteomics) to derive translational insights for clinical development
- Support MS clinical trial biomarker strategy, including pharmacodynamic markers, patient stratification, and endpoints
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Bioanalytical Assay Development, Biostatistics, and Computational Biology to build cohesive narratives
- Contribute to clinical study documents, including biomarker sections of protocols and Investigator's Brochures
- Communicate findings via internal presentations, project updates, and publications; present at external conferences
- Partner with external collaborators, academic institutions, and consortia to advance MS translational programs
Key requirements- PhD in Neuroscience, Neuroimmunology, Immunology, Functional Genomics, or closely related field with 3 years postdoc/industry translational experience
- Hands-on experience with human clinical biospecimens (CSF, PBMCs, whole blood) and translational workflows
- Proficiency in multi-omics technologies and interpretation of high-dimensional data (scRNA-seq, CITE-seq, spatial transcriptomics, bulk RNA-seq, proteomics)
- Knowledge of biomarker development and linking molecular findings to clinical questions (dose, stratification, target engagement)
- Ability to independently design, execute, and interpret translational experiments with rigor and data quality
- Strong written and oral communication skills evidenced by publications/presentations
- Effective organization, multi-tasking, and comfort in fast-paced, cross-functional, global teams
