Overview As Counsel, you will provide legal support for U.S. seniors housing transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, and development matters. You will partner with investment and development teams, guide documentation, and help navigate tax and accounting considerations in REIT deals. You'll act as the transaction quarterback, coordinating with internal stakeholders and outside counsel. Responsibilities- Advise on U.S. seniors housing development deals, acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, and operator transitions; guide related documentation.
- Coordinate with Investment, Development, Accounting, and Tax teams to advance transactions.
- Provide problem-solving input to help teams meet objectives and milestones.
- Understand tax and accounting considerations in REIT transactions.
- Serve as the transaction quarterback and manage outside counsel relationships.
- Advise on post-closing asset management matters.
Key requirements- J.D. from an accredited law school; bar admission in good standing with ability to be admitted in New York or Texas.
- Minimum 3 years of significant real estate and/or M&A experience, ideally representing REITs or public companies.
- Experience with real estate and/or U.S. seniors housing transactions and related commercial concepts.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive team; strong communication and relationship-building skills.
