Overview

In this role, you will oversee daily facilities operations and projects to support a quality learning, research, and living environment. You will lead a facilities team, coordinate maintenance and utilities, and manage budgets and safety compliance. The position focuses on HVAC, automation, and utility infrastructure, driving efficient, compliant operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners and external consultants to deliver reliable campus facilities. This is a mission-driven role at a public university offering opportunities to shape campus infrastructure and safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise staff and coordinate maintenance, repair, and project work
  • Assist in budget development and management for facilities operations
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and university standards
  • Manage projects related to buildings, grounds, and utilities, including HVAC and automation systems
  • Develop designs/specifications aligned with codes and university requirements
  • Establish criteria for environmental comfort and control systems and validate testing
  • Plan long-range improvements to utility infrastructure and environmental control systems
  • Coordinate utility outages and diagnose system problems; prepare utility cost analyses
  • Oversee consultants on Central Plant Utilities and building systems; review their work
  • Establish work schedules, conduct performance reviews, and enforce safety protocols
Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; experience can substitute for degree
  • Multiple years of facilities, physical plant, or utilities management experience with supervisory duties
  • Strong project management, budget management, and leadership skills
  • Familiarity with building systems, safety regulations, and standard office software
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities; conflict resolution and relationship building
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems and manage delays
