Overview

In this role you will provide executive leadership and strategic direction for Calista's human resources across the enterprise, aligning HR with business objectives. You will partner with senior leaders to shape workforce strategy, organizational development, and risk management while ensuring compliance and effective HR services across subsidiaries. You will lead initiatives in talent acquisition, employee lifecycle management, and governance, and drive culture and leadership development. This is a mission-driven opportunity to influence a multi-business organization and support growth and shareholder-focused programs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for HR aligned with enterprise objectives
  • Plan, develop and oversee HR operations ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Manage HR team delivering core HR services and policies
  • Oversee development of HR policies, handbooks, and corporate training programs
  • Provide strategic guidance for Holding Line HR operations
  • Lead efforts to train and promote qualified Shareholders and Alaska Natives
  • Negotiate and administer labor contracts and ensure compliance with terms and benefits
  • Coordinate system-wide policies and programs (compensation, succession, performance, HRIS, risk management)
  • Oversee risk, audits, safety, and corporate reporting; supervise HR staff across subsidiaries
  • Develop long-term HR service strategy to support organizational growth
  • Ensure 401(k) and benefit plan administration and vendor relations
  • Maintain relationships with managers and employees; handle ethics and investigations as needed
  • Review legal changes with Legal; collaborate with leadership on policy updates
  • Foster cross-department collaboration and compliance with corporate goals
  • Serve as Corporate Safety Officer and oversee safety initiatives
Key requirements
  • Ten or more years of progressive HR leadership experience, including at least five years in an executive HR role
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related discipline; Master's preferred
  • Experience leading HR in multi-business Native corporation or government contracting context with large employee base preferred
  • Experience with a Board of Directors or senior leadership interaction preferred
  • HR Certification (PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) preferred
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws; Alaska Native Corporation practices preferred
  • Proven ability to implement and manage HRIS; Workday preferred
  • Executive-level communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to travel and lead across a complex organization
  • Ability to lead organizational transformation and workforce strategy initiatives
