Overview In this role, you will conduct advanced research on how complex networks behave under stress and apply findings to support government and commercial clients. You will work with agile teams to evaluate supply chain visibility and stress-testing tools, translating government challenges into tractable research problems. Responsibilities- Support ERDC's evaluation of project development for supply chain visibility and stress-testing tools in an agile setting across multiple customers
- Conduct foundational and applied research on the behavior of complex systems under stress using network models
- Collaborate with backend engineering teams within an agile framework, providing evaluation and SME input
- Analyze and model cascading failures across interdependent critical infrastructure networks
- Translate abstract government challenges into well-defined research problems
- Present generalized research findings to broad audiences in civil and military contexts
Key requirements- PhD in Engineering, Network Science, Neuroscience, Computer Science, Statistics, or similar; MS considered as well
- Demonstrable research experience modeling the impact of external stimuli on complex networks
- Strong publication record in top-tier peer-reviewed journals preferred
- Excellent ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to expert and non-expert audiences
- Strong programming skills (Python, SQL, Julia)
- Experience with graph databases (Neo4j, TigerGraph, Amazon Neptune) or big data frameworks (Apache Spark, Scala) preferred
- Proven ability to manage multiple research projects concurrently across domains
- Prior experience in fast-paced, client-focused consulting or advisory environments (a plus)
