Position Summary
2020 Companies is looking for Field Retail Technicians to support installation, merchandising, technology, and display projects inside retail stores throughout the Evansville market.
This opportunity is well suited for someone who likes hands-on work, visiting different locations, and managing their own daily assignments. You will travel to retail stores, complete project work according to client specifications, use a smartphone to receive and report assignments, and make sure each job is properly documented before leaving the location.
The service territory can extend up to 90 miles from your home, so reliable transportation and flexibility are important.
What This Role Involves
Rather than working at one fixed retail location, you will travel to stores as projects become available. Assignments can vary and may include new display installations, merchandising updates, equipment servicing, store resets, and repairs.
Typical projects may involve:
Installing or assembling retail fixtures and display structures
Setting up shelving, endcaps, signage, and branded displays
Completing store resets and remodel-related merchandising work
Installing televisions and interactive retail equipment
Setting up kiosks and other technology displays
Replacing graphics, price cards, memory cards, and promotional materials
Updating software and operating systems on display equipment
Identifying and correcting display or equipment problems
Performing basic break-fix work on fixtures and displays
Following store layouts, planograms, diagrams, and project instructions
Photographing finished work for verification
Submitting digital reports, surveys, and required project documentation
You may occasionally work with another technician or a larger installation crew, particularly on more involved projects.
Work Hours
Assignments are generally available Monday through Friday, with project schedules typically falling between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Because this is an assignment-based position, available hours can change from week to week. Hours are not guaranteed and depend on client demand and available projects.
Depending on business requirements, some assignments may take place:
Early in the morning
In the evening
On weekends
Around holidays
Technicians should maintain at least 20 hours of availability during each rolling 30-day period.
Managing Your Assignments
Field technicians are expected to take ownership of their schedules and assignments.
You will be responsible for:
Reviewing available work and maintaining an accurate availability schedule
Accepting and scheduling assignments within 48 hours when required
Completing projects within the assigned timeframe
Staying in contact with field management
Responding to communications promptly, generally within 24 hours
Reporting store conditions, project issues, and other exceptions
Submitting accurate time and activity records
Completing required surveys and photographs
Following project instructions from start to finish
Completing required online training and certifications
Strong organization is important because assignments, stores, and project requirements can vary.
Travel & Transportation
Technicians must be prepared to travel throughout the assigned market.
Travel expectations include:
Up to 90 miles from your residence
Multiple retail locations depending on assignment needs
Reliable personal transportation
Valid driver's license
Current automobile insurance
Eligible drive time and mileage reimbursement are provided according to company guidelines.
Physical Demands
This is an active, hands-on field position. The work may require you to spend extended periods standing and moving around retail environments.
Applicants should be capable of:
Lifting and carrying objects weighing as much as 60 pounds
Climbing ladders up to 10 feet
Reaching above shoulder level
Bending, kneeling, crouching, and walking
Handling tools and display components
Performing repetitive installation and merchandising movements
Maintaining safe work practices throughout an assignment
Equipment & Tools
Technicians are responsible for having the basic tools needed for assignments, including:
Phillips screwdriver
Flat-head screwdriver
Hex keys
Box cutter
Tape measure
Microfiber cleaning cloth
256GB USB drive
USB-A to USB-C adapter
Additional equipment may be required depending on the project.
Smartphone & Technology
A smartphone is an essential part of this position.
Applicants must have an Apple or Android smartphone with an active data plan and a current operating system.
You should be comfortable using your phone to:

Communicate with management
Clock in and out
Take project photographs
Upload documentation
Complete electronic surveys
Access internet-based work systems
The ability to learn new mobile applications and digital workflows is important.

Retail merchandising

Previous merchandising experience is helpful but not mandatory.
Basic Eligibility
Candidates must:
Be 18 years of age or older
Be authorized to work in the United States
Have a valid driver's license
Carry current auto insurance
Have reliable transportation
Be willing to travel within the assigned territory
Have a smartphone capable of running required applications
Be able to communicate through phone, text, and email
A high school diploma or equivalent is generally preferred.
Screening Process
Because technicians operate company and client equipment at retail locations, certain assignments may require additional screening.
Depending on the project and applicable state requirements, candidates may need to successfully complete:
Background screening
Motor Vehicle Record screening
Drug screening
Training & Development
Paid training is available to help new representatives learn company procedures, client expectations, safety requirements, digital reporting systems, and assignment-specific processes.
Completion of required training and certifications is expected before or within the timeframe established for assigned projects.

Technicians are representatives of 2020 Companies and the brands they support. Professional conduct and communication are expected at every retail location.
