Position Overview:
Seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist for ongoing inpatient locum coverage in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is a higher-acuity GI opportunity with both ERCP and EUS required.
Schedule & Clinical Coverage:
- 12 hours of in-house coverage, 7:00 AM 7:00 PM
- Overnight call from 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
- 24-hour call coverage
- Assigned inpatient rounding and consultations
- Admissions required
- Approximately 15 patients per shift
- Typical admissions: 5 10
- Call-back volume: approximately 30%
- Must be available for full 7 14 day stretches; partial weeks are not considered
Procedures:
- ERCP diagnostic and therapeutic
- EUS
- Upper GI endoscopy
- Colonoscopy
- Flexible and rigid sigmoidoscopy
- Endoscopy with biopsy
- Polyp removal
- Foreign body removal
- Treatment of GI bleeding
- Variceal injection
- PEG
- Esophageal dilation
- Esophageal manometry interpretation
- Small bowel biopsy
- Liver biopsy
- Sengstaken/Blakemore tube insertion and management
Requirements:
- Board Certified in Gastroenterology required
- Gastroenterology fellowship preferred
- Active New Mexico medical license required
- Active New Mexico Board of Pharmacy registration
- DEA that can be dedicated to New Mexico for the assignment
- BLS and ACLS
- Recent experience performing both ERCP and EUS
- Ability to supervise APPs
Support & Travel:
- Support includes 3 RNs and 3 APPs
- Temporary privileges are available
