Responsibilities:
Supervise all hourly employees - Duties to include scheduling, work hours, discipline, training, etc.
Schedule attainment - Must be proficient at determining tact times for work flowing through the shop to include outside services.
Provide support to production as required - Must be capable of identifying and removing any barriers to production progress. This could be equipment repairs, tooling issues, facilities problems, etc. He/She does not have to do the work, but know who to see to get it done.
Provide information for quoting to Customer Service - This will require some understanding of machining and methods to keep costs as low as possible. Must be capable of interpreting mechanical drawings and possess a good understanding of machining tolerances.
Identify projects to reduce cost and improve quality, productivity, or throughput - This is on-going and part of a continual improvement process to always be looking for new means of producing a quality part that can be shipped on time.
This individual would spend the majority of his/her time scheduling and following jobs through the shop. This would include making sure the drawing, raw material, tooling and machine is available.
