Shift Structure:

• Friday 5:00pm Monday 7:00am
• 24 hour call coverage throughout the weekend

This is a weekend cardiac surgery call role supporting urgent and emergent cases. Providers will collaborate closely with the cardiac surgeon and ICU teams, offering advanced practice support with a focus on efficiency, patient safety, and high acuity management.

• Support Staff: APP team in place
• Coverage Needed: 3 weekends per month
• Average Callback: 4 hours per day (includes rounding)
• Patient Population: Adults (18+)
• Hospital Size: 163 beds
• EMR: Epic
• Practice Setting: Acute care hospital
• Special Procedure: Vein harvesting
• Department Description:
  • Mix of urgent cardiac surgery cases
  • Patients may go directly from cath lab to surgery
  • Stable patients may wait until Monday
  • Typical flow from ICU to discharge home
  • Cardiac surgeon available for backup after consult
