Job Title: Fiber Optic Test Operator
- Location: Mobile, AL 36605
- Employment Type: Contract - 8 Months (Potential Extension)
- Shift: Rotational Day & Night Shift. Testing may require extended-duration operation
- Pay : $25 - 27/H
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Test Operator to join our client's team in the manufacturing sector. In this role, you will contribute to performing fiber optic testing and splicing, conducting low and medium voltage cable testing, and assisting in hydrostatic pressure testing of products.
Responsibilities
- Perform Fiber Optic Testing & Splicing (Outside Plant Certified)
- Conduct Low Voltage (1000V) Cable Testing & Medium Voltage (6000V) Cable Testing
- Measure resistance, continuity, voltage using test equipment
- Perform & Assist in Hydrostatic Pressure Testing of SDSS Umbilicals & DE Products (10,000-30,000psi)
- Set up specialized equipment, perform leak checks, and verify check completion
- Operate and maintain High Pressure Water Jet & Hydratron Pumps
- Record and ensure correct digital recording methods are used
- Setup digital recording of pressure tests and troubleshoot product and test equipment
- Interpret test data to choose pass/fail condition and resolve further analysis needs
- Identify and document Non-Conformance Records (NCRs) and coordinate improvements
- Support a safe work environment by following safety guidelines and utilizing appropriate PPE
- Provide timely communication to stakeholders regarding production status and tasks completed
- Maintain cleanliness and order in all working areas
Requirements
- Experience in fiber optic testing and splicing
- Knowledge of low and medium voltage cable testing
- Ability to read and interpret schematics (electrical / fiber optic / hydraulic)
- Knowledgeable about fittings, pressure ratings, and proper engagement
- Familiarity with pumps and manifolds
- Understanding of test equipment and digital recording methods
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Experience with CompactRIO, NI Equipment, Pressure Transducers
- Industry experience in manufacturing or related fields
