We're Hiring an Experienced HVAC Lead Installer!
Are you an experienced HVAC installer who takes pride in doing the job right the first time? Do you have the technical knowledge, leadership skills, and attention to detail to manage residential HVAC installations from start to finish?
A-1 Certified Service, Inc. is looking for a skilled and dependable Lead HVAC Installer to join our growing Knoxville team. For over 25 years, we've served East Tennessee homeowners with quality heating, air conditioning, and home performance solutions. We specialize in high-efficiency heat pumps, inverter-driven HVAC systems, ductwork improvements, and whole-home comfort solutions.
We're looking for a professional who understands how an HVAC system should operate and takes pride in delivering a quality installation.
What You'll Do
Installation & Technical Responsibilities
- Lead residential HVAC installations, replacements, and system upgrades.
- Install split systems, heat pumps, gas furnaces, packaged units, and inverter-driven systems.
- Properly install refrigerant piping, condensate drains, electrical connections, venting, and ductwork.
- Follow manufacturer installation specifications, applicable mechanical codes, and company quality standards.
- Perform proper system startup, commissioning, and operational testing.
- Verify airflow, static pressure, refrigerant charge, and overall system performance.
- Identify and correct installation-related airflow and ductwork deficiencies.
- Complete installation checklists, job documentation, and required reporting in ServiceTitan.
Leadership & Teamwork
- Lead and coordinate installation crews to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality work.
- Train, mentor, and assist less-experienced installers and helpers.
- Communicate effectively with management, scheduling, and other team members.
- Plan installations, review materials, and identify potential job challenges before work begins.
- Take ownership of installation quality, jobsite organization, and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain an organized, properly stocked installation vehicle.
Customer Service & Professionalism
- Communicate clearly and professionally with homeowners.
- Explain the installation process and address customer questions.
- Protect customers' homes and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
- Ensure installations are completed professionally, including final cleanup and customer walkthroughs.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on residential HVAC installation experience.
- Previous experience as a Lead Installer, Senior Installer, or demonstrated ability to independently lead installations.
- Strong knowledge of residential HVAC installation practices.
- Experience installing heat pumps, air conditioning systems, and gas furnaces.
- Ability to read installation instructions, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications.
- Knowledge of proper refrigerant handling, evacuation, charging, and brazing practices.
- Understanding of residential duct systems and airflow requirements.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve installation-related issues.
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and driving record meeting company requirements.
- EPA Section 608 certification appropriate to the equipment serviced.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with inverter-driven and variable-speed HVAC systems.
- Experience installing Daikin, Goodman, or similar residential HVAC equipment.
- Knowledge of static pressure testing, airflow measurement, and system commissioning.
- Experience with duct modifications, duct sealing, and whole-home performance improvements.
- Familiarity with ServiceTitan or similar field service software.
- NATE certification or additional HVAC technical training.
- Familiar with TVA standards
