We are seeking an enthusiastic, passionate, and experienced Vocal Instructor to join our team. As a Vocal Coach at School of Rock, you will lead private vocal lessons and assist with ensemble rehearsals and live student shows. You won't just teach songs-you will ground students in music theory, vocal technique, and fundamental musicianship while keeping them inspired and engaged.
Key Responsibilities
Music Instruction & Performance
- Deliver top-quality private vocal lessons tailored to student goals, skill levels, and safety.
- Teach foundational vocal techniques, breath control, pitch, range development, and music theory-ensuring students master core fundamentals, not just song memorization.
- Prepare students for live rehearsals and school performances.
- Create and document thoughtful, structured lesson plans for each student.
Customer Connection & School Support
- Maintain proactive, warm, and regular communication with parents regarding student progress and milestones.
- Serve as a visible, accessible presence in the school to build strong relationships with students, families, and community members.
- Pitch in during canceled lesson slots to support overall school execution and operations.
- Assist with group band rehearsals, gear setup, and basic school maintenance.
Qualifications & Skill Requirements
- Experience: 4+ years of professional music teaching and/or professional performance experience required.
- Music Background: Strong knowledge of music theory, vocal technique, and curriculum design. Formal music school/degree background or status as an active working musician is highly preferred.
- Customer Relations: Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven track record of engaging effectively with kids, teens, adults, and parents.
- Professional Attributes: Highly organized, resourceful, adaptable, and composed under pressure.
- Mindset: A passionate, patient, flexible, and positive demeanor with a genuine commitment to guiding young and developing musicians.
