Learn the Trade from a Family-Run Custom Home Builder
Clingan Custom Homes is a family-owned company that builds custom homes where quality comes first. We don't rush jobs or cut corners, and our reputation is built one home at a time. You'll work side by side with a skilled carpenter and tradesman who takes pride in doing it right.
We're looking for a dependable, hardworking laborer to support our carpenter and crew. This is a hands-on job with a little bit of everything: framing, finish work, demolition, site prep, and cleanup. It's a good fit for someone who wants steady, year-round work and a real chance to learn a skilled trade. Experienced tradespeople are welcome too, and your pay will reflect what you bring.
Experience is helpful, but attitude and reliability matter more. If you're mechanically inclined, show up on time, and want to get better at your craft, we'll teach you.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the lead carpenter with framing, trim, siding, decking, drywall, cabinetry, flooring, and finish work
- Perform demolition and careful removal of existing materials as directed
- Load, unload, move, and stage materials, tools, and equipment
- Measure, mark, and cut materials as instructed
- Prepare work areas and protect finished surfaces and clients' property
- Keep job sites clean, safe, and organized throughout the day
- Remove debris and assist with dumpster loading and final cleanup
- Use hand and power tools safely and correctly (training provided)
- Set up and break down tools, ladders, and equipment
- Follow plans, drawings, and direction from the lead carpenter
- Speak up early when you see a problem on the job
- Take care of company tools, equipment, and vehicles
- Communicate respectfully with coworkers, subcontractors, and homeowners
- Help with punch-list items to deliver a finished home that meets our standards
Qualifications
- Construction, carpentry, demolition, or hands-on labor experience preferred, but not required
- Familiarity with basic hand and power tools is a plus
- Strong work ethic, dependability, and consistent attendance
- Arrive on time, prepared to work
- Attention to detail and pride in your work
- Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced tradespeople
- Ability to work without constant supervision once a task is explained
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
- Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds
- Ability to climb ladders, kneel, bend, and work on your feet all day
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather, as well as around dust, noise, and debris
Pay and Benefits
- Full-time, year-round employment
- Pay: $22 to $40 per hour, based on experience and ability
- Major tools and equipment provided by the company
- Hands-on training from an experienced carpenter
- Opportunity to advance into skilled carpentry positions as you grow
- A family-run company where you're known by name, not number
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7am to 3pm. Occasional overtime as projects require.
Why Clingan Custom Homes?
We're a family business, and we run it that way. Quality is the standard on every project, and we want people who care about that as much as we do. You won't be a number on a big crew or doing the same task over and over. You'll learn the trade from people who do it well, see projects through from start to finish, and have a clear path to move up as your skills grow.
If you take pride in your work, show up ready, and want to build a career in the trades, we'd like to hear from you.
