Position Overview
We are seeking passionate and professional Music Teachers to join our growing Mokena location.
We are currently interested in instructors who teach piano, voice, guitar, drums, and other instruments. Applicants are not expected to teach all of these instruments. We welcome teachers who specialize in one instrument as well as multi-instrumentalists who are comfortable teaching a combination of instruments.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music performance and/or education and enjoy working with students of a variety of ages, experience levels, and musical interests.
We are looking for instructors who are enthusiastic, dependable, personable, and committed to helping students build strong musical foundations while keeping lessons enjoyable and engaging.
Responsibilities
- Teach private music lessons in-studio at our Mokena location, with occasional Zoom lessons when needed.
- Provide instruction in your area(s) of expertise, which may include piano, voice, guitar, drums, or other instruments.
- Teach technique, musicianship, music reading, rhythm, theory, repertoire, and performance skills appropriate to each student's instrument, age, and ability.
- Adapt lessons to each student's individual goals, interests, learning style, and skill level.
- Provide constructive feedback and communicate with students and parents to support musical progress.
- Maintain a professional, positive, and engaging teaching environment.
- Help students prepare for studio recitals and other performance opportunities when applicable.
Qualifications
- Strong background in one or more instruments or areas of music instruction.
- Strong understanding of musicianship and effective teaching methods.
- Ability to explain musical concepts clearly to students of different ages and experience levels.
- Comfortable working with both children and adults.
- Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Dependable, organized, and able to maintain a consistent teaching schedule.
- At least one year of private teaching experience preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in music, music education, performance, or a related field preferred but not required.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to teach multiple instruments is a plus, but is not required.
