Patterson Construction Group, Inc. a Commercial General Contractor is seeking a motivated and organized Construction Project Engineer to join our team. This is a full-time, in-office position based in Long Beach, California, with regular visits to active project sites throughout Orange and LA County.
This position will work closely with our Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to help manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout.
We are looking for someone who understands construction, communicates well, takes initiative, and is comfortable balancing both office and field responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Assist with the management and coordination of Commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
Review construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project requirements
Prepare, submit, and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other project documentation
Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and clients
Assist with subcontractor bidding, proposal review, scope comparisons, and contract coordination
Help maintain project budgets, cost tracking, change order logs, and billing documentation
Assist with construction scheduling, sequencing, and subcontractor coordination
Coordinate permitting, inspections, and plan-check comments
Work closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to identify and resolve field issues
Monitor subcontractor progress and help ensure work is completed according to plans, specifications, and schedule
Assist with quality control and project safety requirements
Attend project meetings and communicate project status and outstanding items
Manage punch-list items and assist with project turnover and closeout documentation
Maintain organized and accurate project records
Qualifications
Degree in Construction Management, or a related field preferred
Previous Commercial construction experience preferred
Strong understanding of construction drawings and basic building systems
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
Strong computer skills and ability to learn construction management software
Comfortable working in both office and active construction-site environments
Self-motivated with a willingness to take ownership of assigned responsibilities
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
