Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Property Accountant to join our finance team. This position will be responsible for the full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of approximately 25 residential properties. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial records, account reconciliations, and other accounting activities. The ideal candidate will be capable of managing multiple properties and completing deadlines while working collaboratively with property management, compliance, and corporate accounting teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day accounting activities for a portfolio of approximately 25 properties.
- Review resident ledgers for accuracy and investigate significant variances or unusual activity. Work with properties on corrections.
- Conduct account reconciliations such as bank reconciliations, account analysis, and ledger reviews to maintain data integrity.
- Post Housing payments and reconcile accounts and transactions as necessary.
- Generate and mail demand notices, send files to collections, update collections log. Monitor non-resident accounts and reconcile.
- Demonstrated ability in financial report writing, interpretation of financial statements, balance sheet reconciliation, and regulatory reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills.
- Deep understanding of technical accounting concepts such as accrual accounting, journal entries, debits & credits, general ledger reconciliation.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining high accuracy standards.
