Position: Dementia Companion Caregiver
DESCRIPTION
Cornerstone Caregiving is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and proactive Companion Caregiver for a female client living with dementia in the 92130 Carmel Valley area.
This is a great opportunity for a caregiver who enjoys being active and creating meaningful connections. Our client enjoys painting, going on walks and hikes, running errands, and getting out into the community. We are looking for someone who can provide companionship while encouraging her to stay active, engaged, and independent.
Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one companionship and conversation
Engage the client in painting and other creative activities she enjoys
Accompany and encourage the client on walks, hikes, and outdoor activities as appropriate
Assist with errands, grocery shopping, and community outings
Provide transportation as needed
Encourage social interaction and meaningful daily activities
Provide gentle reminders, redirection, and supervision related to dementia
Maintain a safe and supportive environment
Observe and report changes in the client's condition or behavior
Ideal Caregiver
We're looking for someone who is active, outgoing, patient, creative, and proactive. The ideal caregiver doesn't just provide supervision they take initiative to plan activities, start conversations, and encourage the client to enjoy the things she loves.
Experience working with dementia, Alzheimer's, or memory care clients is highly preferred.
Qualifications
At least 1 year of caregiving experience preferred
Dementia or memory care experience preferred
Active and comfortable accompanying a client on walks and appropriate hikes
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Compassionate, dependable, engaging, and patient
Ability to pass a background check
HCA registration or willingness to obtain upon hire
Required TB clearance
