Hotshot Driver to transport time-sensitive LTL freight and equipment using medium-to-heavy-duty truck and trailer combinations. The driver will be responsible for safe vehicle operation, precise cargo securement, pre- and post-trip inspections, and maintaining accurate logs while delivering cargo on local, regional, or over-the-road (OTR) routes.
Key Responsibilities
- Safe Vehicle Operation: Safely drive Class A commercial hotshot equipment (e.g., dually trucks paired with gooseneck, flatbed, or step-deck trailers) across assigned routes.
- Cargo Securement: Load, unload, and secure freight using straps, chains, binders, and tarps in strict compliance with safety guidelines and DOT regulations.
- Vehicle Inspections: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to identify and report any mechanical or safety issues.
- Compliance & Logging: Maintain accurate Hours-of-Service (HOS) logs using an Electronic Logging Device (ELD) and strictly adhere to FMCSA/DOT rules.
- Documentation: Verify shipping orders, manifests, and Bills of Lading (BOL), securing required signatures upon delivery.
- Communication: Maintain regular communication with dispatchers regarding route progress, delays, weather conditions, and delivery schedules.
- Licensing: Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- DOT Certification: Valid DOT Medical Card and ability to pass DOT drug screens, alcohol tests, and background checks.
- Cargo Handling Skills: Hands-on experience operating gooseneck/flatbed trailers, winches, ramps, and load securement hardware.
