Elmwood Warehousing Co., Inc. is hiring a dependable, safety-focused CDL Yard Driver / Yard Spotter for a dedicated customer yard operation in the City of Buffalo.

This is a full-time, local yard position working four 10-hour shifts per week. Drivers are responsible for safely moving, spotting, staging, and repositioning trailers while working closely with Elmwood management, customer personnel, and the other members of our yard-driver team.

No over-the-road routes. Home every day.

Pay & Schedule

• $25.00-$30.00 per hour, based on experience
• 4-day workweek - four 10-hour shifts
• Full-time, year-round position
• Local yard operation in the City of Buffalo
• No overnight or over-the-road routes

What You'll Do

• Spot and remove trailers from dock doors
• Move, shuttle, stage, and reposition loaded and empty trailers
• Safely back and position trailers throughout the yard
• Follow trailer move priorities and placement instructions
• Conduct required trailer and equipment inspections
• Inspect and report exterior trailer damage
• Take trailer condition photographs when required
• Promptly report maintenance and repair needs
• Check trailer fuel levels as required
• Maintain communication with Elmwood management and customer personnel
• Follow all company and customer yard safety procedures
• Properly report accidents, incidents, damage, equipment problems, and unsafe conditions
• Protect company and customer tractors, trailers, and equipment from avoidable damage

What We're Looking For

• Valid CDL required
• Commercial tractor/trailer driving experience
• Yard spotting, shunting, trailer-switching, or similar experience preferred
• Strong backing and trailer-maneuvering skills
• Strong safety awareness and attention to equipment condition
• Dependable and punctual
• Able to work independently and as part of a small team
• Comfortable working in a busy yard environment
• Professional communication with management, customers, and other drivers

Attendance & Reliability

Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential to this position because our yard operation requires consistent driver coverage.

Drivers are expected to report for scheduled shifts on time and ready to work. If a driver cannot work a scheduled shift, they must promptly notify Elmwood management and follow company call-off and coverage procedures.
