Overview
Seniors Fix is seeking a motivated, highly skilled Lead Carpenter to join our team on a part-time basis. In this role, you do much more than build. You are the face of our field operations and a trusted presence in our clients' homes. You will take the lead on site, visiting with families to conduct independent safety assessments, listen to their needs, and determine the exact modifications required to keep them safe and comfortable. The ideal candidate has 5-10 years of carpentry experience, owns basic tools, and takes pride in quality craftsmanship.
Job Title: Experienced Skilled Carpenter (Part Time, up to 20 Hours/Week)
Location: Allegany County, MD Garrett County, MD Mineral County, WV
Job Type: Part Time / Contract
Responsibilities:
- Perform skilled carpentry work with emphasis on accessible modifications: installing grab bars, handrails, safety rails, ramps, etc.
- General home maintenance: repairing doors, windows, floors; carpentry repairs in occupied homes.
- Ensure all work complies with local building codes and safety standards.
- Maintain safety, cleanliness, and respect for client privacy while working in clients' homes.
Qualifications / Skills Required:
- Experience: 5-10 years of carpentry experience, including finish carpentry.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient with hand tools and power tools; ability to read and interpret plans or blueprints.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and finishing craftsmanship.
- Tool Ownership: Must own basic carpentry tools; specialty tools may be supplied for certain tasks.
- Transportation: Valid driver's license and own reliable transportation.
- Communication Skills: Good communication skills; respectful and patient demeanor, especially when working in senior/occupied homes.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver at least 100 lbs. safely. Ability to safely climb ladders (including step and extension ladders) to perform elevated work as needed.
- Building Codes & Safety Standards: Ability to ensure work meets local building codes and safety standards.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and find solutions to construction challenges.
- Mathematical Skills: Capable of making accurate calculations for measurements and materials.
- Physical Stamina: Stamina and strength for physical labor, including lifting heavy objects and working in challenging positions.
- Safety Awareness: Strong knowledge of safety procedures and regulations, including OSHA standards.
Compensation:
- Hourly rate: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour, based on experience.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
Schedule / Hours:
- Up to 20 hours per week.
- Flexible scheduling; may include weekdays, occasional weekends or after hours work.
