Traveling Construction Superintendent

The Osborne Company

Denver, Colorado

Job description

Job Description Job Description

POSITION TITLE: TRAVELING CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT

LOCATION: Home-based near a major airport, anywhere in the continental U.S. Travel to project sites nationwide.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time Salaried

PAY: $80,000 - $115,000 per year plus per diem, company-booked hotels, and a take-home company vehicle

LEAD FAST-PACED PROJECTS ACROSS MULTIPLE SITES, AND SOLVE PROBLEMS BEFORE THEY SLOW THE JOB DOWN

Osborne is seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent who is an efficient, hands-on problem solver to lead fast-paced construction projects across the country, primarily within our EV infrastructure division. This is not a traditional ground-up Superintendent role. Our projects are short-duration, high-volume, and often run at the same time across multiple job sites, so you'll manage several crews and subcontractors at once.

Commercial experience is a plus, but not required. We've hired strong Superintendents from production and multi-family residential, civil, utility, and telecom backgrounds. If you can run subcontractors, hold a schedule, and solve problems on your own, we want to hear from you.

Your travel schedule: typically 2-3 weeks on the road, then home between rotations. Home time is planned ahead with your Project Manager, and we book your flights and hotels.

IS THIS ROLE A FIT FOR YOU?

You may be a great match if you:

  • Solve problems on your own and bring your Project Manager solutions, not just problems
  • Are a dependable leader with integrity and a proactive mindset
  • Thrive in fast-paced, high-accountability environments
  • Communicate constantly and clearly with your PM, subcontractors, crews, and clients
  • Are highly organized and able to keep multiple projects moving on schedule
  • Take ownership of job site performance, safety, and quality
  • Adapt quickly as schedules and site conditions change

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

As a Traveling Superintendent, you'll lead multiple job sites, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule goals are met. This role requires a strong field presence, constant communication with your Project Manager, and the ability to manage many moving parts across short-duration, fast-paced projects.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee day-to-day field operations across one or multiple job sites, from mobilization through closeout
  • Schedule, direct, and hold subcontractors accountable (Osborne Superintendents supervise the work; they do not self-perform trade work)
  • Ensure work is performed according to plans, specifications, and codes
  • Coordinate schedules, sequencing, inspections, and daily progress
  • Keep your Project Manager updated every day and bring options when issues come up
  • Generate POs, Change Orders, and cost estimates in collaboration with PMs
  • Lead job site safety: job safety analyses, toolbox talks, inspections, and incident documentation
  • Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites
  • Provide a high-quality client experience and communication
  • Submit daily reports, photos, and progress updates in Procore

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:

  • 3+ years as a Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or field lead directing subcontractors (commercial, civil, utility, or residential)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects or fast-paced job sites at the same time
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and field operations
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
  • Comfortable with construction software on a laptop or tablet (Procore, Bluebeam, or similar; we'll train you on ours)
  • Willingness to travel 2-3 weeks at a time, with scheduled home time between trips
  • Ability to fly as needed (REAL ID-compliant or other TSA-accepted identification)
  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets our vehicle policy
  • OSHA 30, or able to complete it within 90 days (paid by Osborne)
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in changing weather, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

PREFERRED, NOT REQUIRED:

  • Site work, utilities, concrete, or civil scopes
  • EV charging, electrical, telecom, fuel station, or multi-site rollout programs
  • Production or multi-family residential experience running multiple units or sites at once

BENEFITS & PERKS:

  • Salary: $80,000 - $115,000, based on experience
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Paid per diem ($50/day, subject to applicable tax rules) + company-booked hotels (you keep the points)
  • Take-home company vehicle
  • Company phone
  • Medical, dental & vision insurance (company-shared premiums)
  • 3 weeks of Paid Time Off (PTO), earned from your first day
  • Paid holidays
  • 2 weeks of paid parental leave
  • 401(k) with 3.5% employer match
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
  • Annual boot allowance and prescription safety glasses
  • Paid OSHA 30 and ongoing training
  • A team environment that values accountability, communication, and results
