Solar Crew Lead / Foreman

Shockoe Solar is an 18-year-old solar installation company based in Ashland, VA, installing residential and commercial PV systems across Central Virginia. We are hiring an experienced Solar Crew Lead to run our installation crew on rooftop and ground-mount projects.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Lead a crew of installers on residential and commercial solar installations (pitched roofs, ballasted flat roofs, ground mounts) and detach/reset jobs

- Own the job site from layout through final inspection: racking, modules, wiring, inverters, batteries, and grid interconnection

- Perform the electrical portion of the install under our Master Electrician's license: DC and AC wiring, conduit, disconnects and panel work, inverter and battery commissioning, and utility interconnection

- Keep every job safe, clean, on schedule, and to code; coordinate with the owner, inspectors, and the utility

- Set the standard for quality and train the installers on your crew

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- Expert-level rooftop skills. You have installed a lot of systems and can lay out, flash, and rack a roof correctly and fast

- Solid working knowledge of the electrical side of solar, including inverters, batteries, and interconnection with the grid

- Experience leading a crew as a foreman or lead installer

- Strong work ethic, honesty, and integrity. These matter more to us than anything else on this list

- Clean driving record (required; you will be driving a company truck)

- Live within about 45 minutes of Ashland, VA

- No license required. NABCEP PV Installation Professional certification is a plus but not required

WHAT WE OFFER

- $30 to $38 per hour depending on experience

- Company truck and fuel card available for the right candidate

- Steady work on a mix of residential and commercial projects

- A small, owner-run company where you work directly with the owner, a Master Electrician with 18 years in solar, and your work is seen on every roof

To apply, send a resume or a short note about the systems you have led. We read every one.
