Job Description Job Description
Overview:
We're looking for an experienced service plumber - someone who can drive up to a house or a job site, figure out what's actually wrong, and fix it right. Let's be upfront about one thing: we don't pay commission, and we don't want salespeople. If you've been working somewhere that pushes you to sell a water heater on every service call whether the customer needs one or not, that's not us. We're an hourly shop. Our reputation in this valley goes back to 1911, and it got there by telling people the truth about their plumbing. Do good work, treat the customer fair, and you'll never hear a word from us about your "average ticket."
Responsibility:
What you'll actually be doing - Running residential and light commercial service and repair calls - diagnostics, not installs off a print - Drain and sewer work, camera and locating - Water heaters (tank and tankless) - repair, replace, code corrections - Repipes, slab leaks, gas lines, fixture and valve work - Troubleshooting the calls nobody else could figure out - Talking to customers directly - explaining the problem, the options, and what you'd honestly do if it were your own house - Keeping your truck stocked, your paperwork clean, and your calls documented.
What we need from you:
Required: - 3+ years of hands-on service plumbing - not new construction only. You should be comfortable rolling solo on a call and diagnosing from scratch. - Real troubleshooting ability. You can walk into an unfamiliar system and work backward from the symptom. - Solid working knowledge of the California Plumbing Code - Valid California driver's license and a clean enough record to be insured on a company vehicle - The ability to explain plumbing to someone who knows nothing about plumbing, without talking down to them - Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen - Journeyman-level experience (5+ years running service solo) - Backflow certification - Medical gas or commercial experience - Experience on a service software / tablet-based dispatch system. We're open to both a seasoned journeyman and a solid mid-level tech with 3-5 years under their belt. Pay reflects what you bring
Schedule and on-call:
Monday-Friday, day shift - Rotating on-call for after-hours and weekend emergency calls - shared across the crew, not dumped on the new guy - Overtime paid per California law - Take-home company truck, fuel, and stocked inventory
What we offer:
$25-$40/hour depending on experience - hourly, no commission, no quota - Take-home company service truck - Health benefits - Paid time off and holidays - Retirement plan - Tools, uniforms, and ongoing training/certification support - A 50-person shop with plumbing, HVAC, and sheet metal in-house - steady, year-round work with real backup when a job gets big - An office that answers the phone and a foreman with 40+ years experience.
Why people stay here:
Turlock and Modesto are small enough towns that your work follows you. We've been here for over a century because customers call us back. That only works if the people in the trucks are the kind who'd rather fix a $180 problem honestly than sell a $6,000 one they talked somebody into. If that's how you already work, you'll fit in fine here.
