Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Lead Fabricator to lead a small production team in Peekskill, NY. This is a hands-on leadership position for a skilled fabrication professional with strong MIG welding, mechanical, blueprint reading, and manufacturing experience.
In this role, you will work alongside junior fabricators while overseeing daily workflow, maintaining quality standards, supporting production schedules, and helping develop less-experienced team members. The ideal candidate combines advanced fabrication skills with the ability to lead by example on the shop floor.
Lead Fabricator Responsibilities:
Lead, train, and mentor a small team of junior fabricators
Perform hands-on MIG welding and metal fabrication
Fabricate window frames, sashes, and other structural components to specification
Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, measurements, and technical specifications
Coordinate daily production priorities and help ensure projects stay on schedule
Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and workmanship
Troubleshoot fabrication and production issues as they arise
Coordinate with production supervisors, estimators, and other departments on project requirements
Conduct routine inspections of equipment, work areas, and finished products
Promote a safe, organized, and efficient fabrication environment
Qualifications & Experience:
5+ years of fabrication or manufacturing experience required
Strong MIG welding experience required
Previous lead, senior-level, or team leadership experience strongly preferred
Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills
Ability to read and work from blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications
Window, architectural metal, structural fabrication, or related manufacturing experience is highly desirable
Strong quality-control mindset and attention to detail
Excellent communication and team leadership skills
Ability to travel to local job sites when needed
Valid driver's license required for local travel
Company vehicle and gas card provided for approved job-site travel.
