Sous Chef - Sloopy's Diner (Ohio Union, Ohio State Campus)
Columbus, OH $18-$26/hr based on experience
Sloopy's Diner, located inside the Ohio Union on Ohio State's campus, is hiring a Sous Chef to help lead our kitchen. Sloopy's is independently operated by Athenian Higher Education and serves a high-volume campus crowd of students, faculty, and visitors.
What you'll do
- Run the line alongside the Chef and lead the kitchen in the Chef's absence
- Train, direct, and support kitchen staff during service
- Maintain consistency in prep, portioning, and plating
- Help manage inventory, ordering, and food cost
- Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and compliant with food safety standards
- Assist with scheduling and daily prep planning
What we're looking for
- 2+ years of line cook experience; prior lead or sous chef experience preferred
- Ability to stay calm and keep a team moving during busy rushes
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation (ServSafe a plus)
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible shifts, including weekends
- Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
