Physician/Doctor - OBGYN - Laborist
Location: NC
Schedule: 24-hour in-house shifts (January 2027 - August 2027)
Position Overview
Provide inpatient OB hospitalist (laborist) coverage during 24-hour in-house shifts, including labor and delivery coverage and emergent OB/GYN consults and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Provide labor and delivery coverage during 24-hour in-house shifts
Manage ED consults and provide coverage for GYN service as needed
Perform emergent OB/GYN procedures and respond to urgent clinical needs during shift coverage
Respond to codes as required
Clinical Scope Highlights
Inpatient coverage only
Call will be shared with other OB/GYN generalists and a certified nurse midwife
Average inpatient census: 50
Average admissions per day: 10
Average admissions per night: 5
Estimated surgical volume: approximately 10 cases per month per surgeon
Required Procedures
Cesarean delivery
D&C (obstetric and gynecologic)
Diagnostic and operative laparoscopy
Urgent/emergent gynecologic cases
Required Qualifications
MD/DO
Board Certified in OB/GYN
BLS required
Active medical license (North Carolina license or ability to obtain)
Candidates must have at least two years of clinical experience within the past five years to qualify.
