Position Overview
Save Truck Services is seeking an experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to join our growing Iowa team serving the Iowa City and Cedar Rapids region.
As a Mobile Diesel Technician, you'll diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment at customer locations using a fully equipped company service truck. This position requires a self-motivated technician who can work independently, accurately diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues, and provide high-quality repairs with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Travel to customer locations in a company-provided service truck
- Diagnose and repair commercial trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance services (PMs)
- Complete DOT inspections
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, steering, suspension, and air brake systems
- Perform brake repairs, suspension repairs, engine repairs, and general mechanical work
- Perform minor welding and fabrication as needed
- Accurately document inspections, repairs, and recommendations
- Communicate professionally with customers and dispatch
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized service truck
Preferred Experience
Experience servicing one or more of the following:
- Class 7 & 8 trucks
- Semi-trailers
- Heavy equipment
- Freightliner
- International
- Peterbilt
- Kenworth
- Volvo
- Mack
- Caterpillar
- Cummins
- Detroit Diesel
- Allison transmissions
- Bendix air brake systems
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Minimum of 3 years of diesel mechanic experience (mobile service experience preferred)
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience using diagnostic software and electronic troubleshooting equipment
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
- Ability to lift 75 pounds and work in various weather conditions
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented
