Position Overview
We are seeking an energetic, reliable, and hands-on Assistant Manager to help oversee daily dock and front-desk operations at our John's Pass location. In this role, you will work directly with management to manage guest check-ins, oversee safety briefings, coordinate dock staff, and keep fleet operations running smoothly.
This role requires a flexible schedule, including availability across weekdays, weekends, and peak holiday periods (e.g., Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, spring break).
Key Responsibilities
- Dock & Fleet Operations:
- Manage opening and closing procedures for the shop and staging dock.
- Oversee boat and Waverunner launches, dockings, wash-downs, and refueling.
- Perform daily pre-ride equipment checks to ensure safety, clean presentation, and maintenance standards.
- Guest Experience & Safety Compliance:
- Welcome guests, manage reservations, verify rental documentation, and handle POS check-outs.
- Conduct clear safety briefings and instruct renters on safe vessel operation, local boating regulations, speed zones, and navigation in the Pinellas waterways.
- Handle guest questions and resolve dockside issues with a professional, hospitable attitude.
- Team Support & Shop Leadership:
- Help lead dockhands and rental associates during peak rush periods.
- Maintain clean, organized front-office, check-in counter, and dock areas.
- Assist with inventory tracking, fuel logging, and rental scheduling software.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Flexible Schedule: Must be available to work weekdays, weekends, and summer/holiday peak periods.
- Boating / Watercraft Experience: Familiarity with personal watercraft (Waverunners/Jet Skis) and powerboats required. A Florida Boater Safety Card (or Captain's License) is a strong plus.
- Customer Service Focus: Strong communication skills and a friendly, upbeat demeanor tailored for a tourist destination.
- Physical Demands: Comfortable working outdoors in Florida sun/heat, swimming, standing for long shifts, and pulling/securing dock lines (lifting up to 50 lbs).
- Basic Tech Skills: Comfortable using digital booking platforms, reservation software, and POS systems.
- Reliability: Punctual with dependable transportation to Johns Pass Village.
