Job description

Tele-Dermatologist

Part-Time Flexible Schedule Work from Anywhere Rural Texas

Position Overview

The Rural Health Hub (RHH) is seeking a Tele-Dermatologist to provide high-quality dermatologic care to patients in rural and medically underserved Texas communities.

This flexible, part-time role allows the dermatologist to work remotely while trained clinical staff are physically present with the patient. The dermatologist will evaluate and manage a broad range of skin conditions, provide longitudinal specialty care, and collaborate with local primary care providers, hospitals, and procedural specialists.

The Rural Health Hub Model

RHH uses a hybrid-telehealth model that combines remote specialty expertise with in-person clinical support.

Local medical assistants, nurses, or advanced practice providers assist with:

  • History, medications, and relevant clinical information

  • High-quality clinical photography and lesion documentation

  • Physical examination components

  • Connected examination and imaging technology when appropriate

  • Coordination of laboratory testing, biopsies, pathology, and referrals

  • Follow-up care and communication with the local care team

This model allows dermatologists to provide meaningful ongoing care while using local and regional resources for procedures, pathology, and higher levels of care when needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial and follow-up dermatology visits by telehealth

  • Evaluate and manage common and complex dermatologic conditions

  • Review photographs, pathology, laboratory results, medications, and prior records

  • Develop individualized diagnostic and treatment plans

  • Order appropriate laboratory testing, biopsies, imaging, and referrals

  • Provide longitudinal medication and disease management

  • Identify lesions or conditions requiring urgent or in-person evaluation

  • Coordinate biopsies and procedures with local or regional clinicians

  • Communicate clearly with patients and local care teams

  • Complete timely documentation and clinical follow-up

Clinical Scope

Patients may include those with:

  • Acne and rosacea

  • Eczema and dermatitis

  • Psoriasis

  • Skin infections

  • Rashes and inflammatory skin disorders

  • Suspicious skin lesions

  • Skin cancer screening and follow-up

  • Hair and nail disorders

  • Pigmentation disorders

  • Urticaria and allergic skin conditions

  • Autoimmune and systemic dermatologic disease

  • Medication-related skin reactions

Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree

  • Board certified or board eligible in Dermatology

  • Active Texas medical license or eligibility to obtain one

  • Strong dermatologic diagnostic and management skills

  • Ability to practice effectively through telehealth and image-based evaluation

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Commitment to rural and underserved populations

Experience in teledermatology, rural healthcare, medical dermatology, dermatopathology, or other dermatologic subspecialty care is welcomed but not required.

Schedule and Work Arrangement
  • Part-time, flexible telehealth schedule

  • Recurring weekly clinic blocks available

  • Work remotely with no relocation required

  • Local clinical personnel present with patients

  • Scheduling, technology, and care-coordination support provided

  • Opportunity to expand hours as the network grows

Why Join Rural Health Hub?
  • Bring dermatology care to communities with limited specialist access

  • Work remotely while maintaining longitudinal patient relationships

  • Complement an existing practice or academic appointment

  • Practice within a coordinated care model rather than isolated telemedicine

  • Help rural clinicians manage dermatologic conditions locally

  • Reduce delays, travel burdens, and barriers to specialty care

  • Help build sustainable specialty access across rural Texas
