Automotive Mechanic

Position Summary

We are seeking a practical, detail-oriented Automotive Mechanic to inspect classic vehicles, identify safety concerns and mechanical deficiencies, and complete the repairs needed for safe, reliable operation. The ideal candidate is skilled at troubleshooting older vehicles and prioritizing essential mechanical work. Occasional light restoration or cosmetic improvements may be assigned, but full restorations are not the primary responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Perform incoming and pre-sale vehicle inspections; identify and clearly document safety-related defects, needed repairs, and recommended maintenance.

Inspect, diagnose, service, and repair brake systems, steering, suspension, tires/wheels, lighting, electrical systems, fuel systems, cooling systems, engines, and drivetrains as needed.

Diagnose leaks, unusual noises, starting or charging issues, drivability problems, and other mechanical concerns using appropriate tools and procedures.

Prioritize safety-critical repairs and communicate findings, estimated parts needs, and repair recommendations to shop leadership before proceeding.

Complete repairs efficiently and verify results through post-repair checks and appropriate road testing when authorized.

Perform routine maintenance and minor adjustments; assist with limited light restoration or cosmetic repairs when requested.

Maintain accurate work records, including inspection findings, repairs completed, parts used, and labor time.

Keep work areas, tools, and equipment clean and organized; follow safe lifting, handling, and shop practices.

Coordinate with other shop personnel to meet vehicle readiness and delivery timelines; flag issues that require specialist attention.
