This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a motivated, committed and experienced meat & seafood expert with strong business and financial acumen to join our Eugene-based corporate team! The Meat & Seafood Sales Manager promotes excellence in the Meat & Seafood departments of all eleven Market of Choice locations throughout the state of Oregon and is responsible for all aspects of Meat & Seafood products including vendor selection, procurement and process strategy, product innovation, regular and promotional pricing, merchandising techniques, packaging, and labeling. The Meat & Seafood Sales Manager works closely with Corporate and Store Operations to meet store sales and financial targets for corporate and store-level budgets and to ensure perfect execution on all department Standard Practices. Primary duties include: Creating and executing strategies for product, price, promotion, and placement Assisting Corporate and Store Operations in achieving target inventory turns, margin % and shrink %. Developing and executing merchandising programs and promotional plans that support the achievement of gross profitability and lead to continued sales growth. Working with Corporate Operations to establish consistent best practices for Meat & Seafood products, placement, merchandising, and quality standards. Creating documented SOPs and developing staff training for the Meat & Seafood department that can be supported by Operations Driving excellence in our programs at store level by facilitating effective communication and working closely with each meat & seafood department on consistent merchandising standards, appropriate product mix, signage, training and financial performance. Partnering with Corporate and Store Management to help develop staffing and work flow models that lead to excellence in department readiness, customer service, and labor targets Maintaining knowledge and awareness of competitors and industry trends Utilizing internal and external data sources and research that supports a structured category and product review process Qualifications & Experience 5-6 years of experience in the retail food and drug industry Buying and merchandising skills with focus on Meat & Seafood products Educated palate and knowledge of high quality ingredients and foods Strong computer skills. Ability to quickly learn/navigate new programs & systems. Proven ability to impact financial performance through buying and pricing decisions. Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects. Ability to recognize trends, target areas for improvement, and generate strategies for short and long term goal setting and planning. Excellent written and oral communication skills along with the ability to successfully work in a collaborative team environment Experience working in multi-unit environment is preferred.
